It is with great excitement that we announce the first Baltimore production
of Baltimore Hebrew Congregation’s Cantor Robbie Solomon’s
original musical version of the Story of Esther, called THE ORPHAN
QUEEN. (www.orphanqueen.com) On Saturday February 20 and
Sunday the 21, 2010 in the Dalsheimer Auditorium our joint congregations
will present this delightful musical. This will be a collaborative effort
including Cantor Robbie Solomon as Mordechai and Cantor Thom King as
Ahashuerus. If you have musical, dance or dramatic talent you are cordially
invited to audition for a part in this wonderful adaptation of one of our
most beloved biblical stories. Cantor Solomon has produced this show
numerous times in the Boston Metropolitan area to rave reviews.
The roles for which we are seeking applicants are as follows:
• Vashti: (alto) approx. 25-35 yrs old, Persian beauty, feisty, jazz/blues
singer
• Esther: (lyric mezzo-soprano) approx. 16—25 yrs old, air of innocence,
quiet strength
• Haman: (baritone) comically smarmy villain, with jazz (scat) vocal ability
and dancer
• Queen’s Handmaidens: 6—10 singers for chorus who can move (double
as townspeople, beauty contestants) at least three specialists in close harmony.

• King’s Ministers: 6—10 singers for chorus who can move (to double as
townspeople, servants) (Solos available)
• Children’s choir: 8—15 singers for chorus parts (Solos available)
For the audition please bring music for two short contrasting performance
pieces (eg. uptempo vs. ballad) plus any resume materials (photos,
reviews, etc) that you can leave with us. Baltimore Hebrew’s Musical
Director, Jimmy Galdieri will assist in the auditions. Please respond by
